Secondary and micronutrient inclusion in fertilizer formulation impact on maize growth and yield across northern Ghana

In the low-income and resource-poor farming communities of northern Ghana where the bulk of maize is produced, farmers hardly include sulphur and micro nutrients in fertilization. This study shows that inclusion of sulphur, boron, and zinc could increase maize yield by up to 29% compared to non-inclusion. Whilst studies of secondary and micro nutrient inclusion remains unavailable for decision-making, findings from this study provides bases for their inclusion in fertilizer formulation across the region.
